Mt Bundy Station

We’re still in the NT on a cattle station called Mt Bundy Station (http://www.mtbundy.com.au/) near the township of Adelaide River (-13.228494, 131.134481).  Our plan when leaving Darwin on Sunday 7 July was to stay here at Mt Bundy for a week and then head towards Broome via Katherine.  Well, two weeks later we’re still at Mt Bundy and will be here for at least another two weeks and maybe til the end of August.  Why you ask?  Well, why not – it’s a great spot, the weather is fabulous, the people are nice, it’s close to Litchfield National Park, Adelaide River township is 3kms away, fishing in the Adelaide River is close by as is the Daly River region, and, most importantly, we’re in no hurry to be anywhere else as we haven’t heard back from the guys at 4WD Action about the filming somewhere near Broome.  We’re having a great time watching the horses, dogs, Nigel the bull and the wallabies and birdlife.

The Rosella Craft Fair is on in Adelaide River next Friday and we’ve been busy being crafty.  Michael is making survival bracelets and I’ve been busy making magic wands.  We’ve spent some time looking for suitable trees to make didgeridoos and Michael has two on the go at the moment.  There is a country music festival the following weekend so we’ll go to that as well – for a small town, there’s a lot happening.  There’s lots of history associated with World War II in the area, everything from airstrips and communication relay towers to field hospitals were in this area.  So, life is good with lots of new things to see and do.
